After the appointment
Rest After your horses appointment, I always recommend they are allowed to rest for 24 hours from demanding exercises and is best for them to go out in the field afterwards (if they can) or can do light exercise including a gentle walking hack and/or a short (20 minutes) non-contact schooling session. This varies between individual horses, depending on findings during the appointment.
Stretches and exercises I like to prescribe a range of leg stretches, dynamic mobilisation exercises (carrot stretches) and pole work exercises, tailored to your individual horse, which you can incorporate into your horses routine between sessions, in order to maintain flexibility, range of motion and suppleness. The selected exercises aim to target your horses specific areas of need allowing them to improve their performance and/or feel more comfortable. To learn more about stretching click here.
